The under 16 footballers played Saval in the Semi-final of the South Down U16 A Championship. Having topped the qualifying group the young blues were awarded home advantage and a large crowd of supporters gathered in Pairc Liam Ui Ir to cheer on the team.
These two sides are no strangers to each other having played out several close encounters already this year in a challenge match, in the League and in the Championship. This match proved not to be as tight of an encounter with the young blues hitting their stride from the off and an out of sorts Saval side not performing as they had done in previous encounters.
The Warrenpoint boys played well in every sector and showed great passion and intensity for the full hour. The Final is scheduled for Saturday the 29th of September at 2.30pm in Clonduff, our opponents will be Mayobridge, who were victorious against An Riocht in the other semi-final.
