Cumann Pheadair Naofa Under 21s took on Carryduff in the Down Patrick Dinsmore Championship Semi Final at Pair Liam Ui Ir Moygannon.
The Point men were trying to reach the final where they so narrowly missed out on last year due to a one point loss to Mayobridge. The Carryduff men were on form and would not go down without a fight.
The Point men raced out of the traps with Scores from Donagh McAleenan and Aaron Magee, the point men raced ahead to a 3 point lead until the Carryduff men began to get back into the game. The Warrenpoint men continued their determined streak and kept their noses in front throughout the first half with some great performances from Aaron Magee, Paddy Murdock and Donagh McAleenan.
The Half Time Score saw the point men in front by 2 points 0-9 to 0-7 with it all still to play for in the second half.
The Point men started fresh and were ruthless and unrelenting in their attacks picking up any loose ball and converting to race into an 8 point lead with 15 minutes to go. The men from Carryduff held on to the game and dragged themselves back into it leaving the game with only 1 point between the sides with 4 minutes to go. But the sheer resilience and determination to reach the final stood out and Aaron Magee Slipped over a last minute point to put the point ahead and winners.
Final Score Cumann Pheadair Naofa 1-13 vs Carryduff 1-11. The Warrenpoint side now take on Mayobridge in the Championship Final next Sunday in Pairc Elser in Newry in what will promise to be a battle for the Patrick Dinsmore Cup.
