Cumann Pheadair Naofa U18 ladies are through to the championship semi-final, after overcoming Ballymartin, in a tough encounter at Milltown in Warrenpoint, played in very challenging conditions. The home side had a comfortable victory the last time the teams met in Warrenpoint, but this was a different affair. A low scoring first half saw the visitors get on the score sheet first, the home side taking a while to find their feet & take a score. Both teams kept plugging away, with the Blues going into half-time with their noses in front. The ever deteriorating weather conditions made things really tough for both sets of players, but home knowledge perhaps helped as the Warrenpoint ladies took a modicum of control in the match & started to build up a more comfortable lead. Ballymartin certainly weren’t going to lie down & continued to take the game to Warrenpoint with their attacks & some well taken scores. The home side stuck well to their task & saw out the match & can now look forward to a semi-final.
