Cumann Pheadaír Naofa 10-3 V Kilclief 3-03
The start of the 2017 leagues has been a massively positive start for Adrian McNally’s U16 squad. Travelling away to Kilclief early on Sunday morning and on a wet cold day the Warrenpoint team went in as underdogs. Having to play on a very poor surface for hurling meant the play was very limited on the sticky muddy ground. This did not deter the spirit shown as the towering figure of Tiarnan Murphy could not be held back with a man of the match performance ensuring he finished the day with a tally of 8-02, nine of his scores coming from open play (0-1 from frees). In defence Eoin Cassidy and Conan Kelly were masterful in controlling and quashing any threat on Jason Young’s goal. Overall this will have instilled great belief in the Cumann Pheadaír Naofa team with another away fixture next week to St Pat’s in Ballela.
