Warrenpoint U16 got their season off to a winning start on Friday against local rivals Rostrevor. The game was put back a night making way for the senior game on the previous night. The Point lads started out well from the start with 5 unanswered attacks in a row…unfortunately they didn’t convert these attacks to scores and when Rostrevor settled, they  proved to be more ruthless and jumped into a 3 point lead. With a great game in full flow both teams traded scores and it was midway through the first half when the Point jumped into the lead by hitting the net with a well taken goal , this was a lead they wouldn’t lose the rest of the game.

This was a very hard test for the lads and Rostrevor pushed them all the way and anyone could have won this great game. However the difference was the 3 goals scored by Niall Rice, Luke Kelly and David Breen for the Point in the end. Final score was 3-4 to 0-11.
Next up is another tough away game in Tullylish on Thursday 11th @ 6.45pm.
