U16s travelled away to Castlewellan to play out a very credible draw this morning. With Cumann Pheadaír Naofa having suffered soul destroying defeat to Bredagh and O’Rahillys beating St Patricks by the minimum of scores last week, it meant that today’s fixture between the two sides was going to be a real competitive game between two evenly matched sides. In a game the management felt that they should have come away with the spoils in, it was spirited rally by the home side that saw them take a two-point advantage late in the game.
Cumann Pheadaír Naofa had started off in great form and had pushed on to take a 4-2 to 1-2 lead, with goals coming from Ross Garrivan, Tiernan Murphy, Mark McGivern and Ronan Cunningham. As the game progressed the Warrenpoint side eased off and let O’Rahillys back into the game as they looked to have sown up two valuable league points, but the blues were not finished and thankfully two late points from Mike Lennon & Tiernan Murphy saw the game finish level. Cumann Pheadaír Naofa 6-5 V O’Rahillys 6-5
