Warrenpoint U16s moved into the knock out stage of the championship with a highly anticipated clash with local rivals Burren in the quarter final. With a nervous start from the blues, Burren took advantage taking an early point before a long ball into the Burren attack resulted in a well taken goal. The Point started to get more into the game with Shea Madden breaking down Burren attacks with Sean O’Hare and Kohree Hourican getting on top too. In attack Aaron McBurney got a couple of scores with Eoin Byrne scoring a well taking free. The blues wasted a few chances during the half before Eoin Carr levelled the sides just before the break.

Half time score 0-5 to 1-2
The blues started the half much stronger and confident. An early score from man of the match Cian McLoughlin set the blues on their way. Aaron McBurney really came to life in the second half scoring some excellent frees and winning a lot of ball along with Cian McLoughlin. Burren refused to give up and made the blues defence work from start to finish!

Jamie Shea and Kohree took control at the back pushing the blues forward at every opportunity. Scores from Cian McLoughlin, Eoghan Byrne and Alan Booth kept the blues ticking over before Aaron McBurney finished the game with 2 great points.

Final score 0-16 to 1-6. Best on the night Aaron McBurney Cian McLoughlin and Kohree Hourican. Scorers Aaron McBurney 0-9, Eoghan Byrne 0-2, Cian McLoughlin 0-2, Eoin Carr 0-2, Alan Booth 0-1
