The first home game of the season for the young blues, saw Saul come to Milltown earlier this afternoon. Both teams had had a tough outing last time around, so were looking for a more positive result today. Warrenpoint put the pressure on right from the start with some good attacking play and managed to get a couple of scores on the board. Further pressure turned into goals for Emma Ryan and Sydney Barnett, with a flurry of points from Cliodhna Martin, Lia Rice and Lauren Quinn. Saul were certainly not taking things lying down and fought back to get a goal and three points, going into the half time break.

The young blues were fast out of the blocks after the turnaround, with a goal and two points from Cliodhna Martin, which looked to out the match beyond the visitors reach, but it was far from over. Warrenpoint managed to score regularly, with a goal and some further points from Lauren Quinn and it’s just as well that they did, for the fight back from Saul was on. Despite sterling work from the back three of Aimee Kelly, Orla-May McClean and Shannon Doyle, the visitors managed to conjure up three goals, seemingly from nowhere. This made for an exciting and tense finish and ensured the home team worked hard until the end and got their reward with a 4-12 to 4-6 victory.

Next up for the U14 Ladies is an away fixture to RGU Downpatrick on 21st April 2019.
