It had been a long wait from the end of the league until the U14 Ladies got their chance to tackle the Championship. With a bye into the semi-final, hopes were high of making it to the

final, standing in the way was a very strong Saval team. Saval had comfortably beaten Clonduff in the quarter final & had no doubt, not forgotten the beating they received at the hands of Warrenpoint in league, on their home patch. With home advantage & finishing higher up the league than Warrenpoint, Saval were always going to be favourite’s for this encounter.

The blues took an early lead, with a well taken goal & a couple of points, but Saval always kept in touch. At half time, Saval had an advantage of three points. The young ladies came out in the second half in very determined mood & fought back to level the game, but Saval always had their noses just in front. There was no way the blues would roll over & let Saval walk away with the game, as they continued to fight in every area of the pitch. Despite all the hard work, the blues just couldn’t quite find the scoring touch, to bring the game, with Saval eventually taking the match 4-12 to 4-4.

Despite the obvious disappointment at the result, the young ladies can feel immensely proud of their efforts & should hold their heads high. This was a match where they gave everything & forced Saval to work hard right to the end. This is a team that the whole club can be extremely proud of. The ladies have worked hard all year, improved immeasurably & have always represented the club admirably.
