After suffering disappointment in their last league outing against Kilcoo, the Warrenpoint ladies were looking to bounce back away to Bryansford today (Sunday 22nd July).

With Bryansford only having 14 players, last minute changes needed to be made to the starting line-up, as it was agreed to play 13 a-side. This, combined with some players out of their usual positions due to absences and the warm conditions, possibly contributed to the Blues somewhat lethargic start to the game. Despite having good possession and plenty of scoring opportunities, Warrenpoint seemed unable to get the scoreboard ticking over. Bryansford made the most of the possession they had and were rightly rewarded with a goal and a couple of early points. After 15 minutes, teams took a water break and after some strong motivational words, the Blues took to the pitch again, with a little more determination. A strong finish to the first half, seeing the Blues leading by three goals and one point.

Bryansford were however far from finished. Some inventive tactical play from the home side, continued to cause Warrenpoint a few problems, however good strong work from the half-back line, largely negated this threat. Despite maintaining a good proportion of the possession, the Blues were unable to run in the scores, the possession play should have deserved. However, a few scores did come and with the defence putting in a sterling performance, the result was almost certain, by the time the second half water break was taken. The ladies from Warrenpoint stuck to their task, rattled over another couple of scores close to the end and ran out comfortable winners 4-9 to 1-7.
