Loughinisland v Cumann Pheadair Naofa – Sunday 12th June, league match

Warrenpoint u14 ladies played out a tough duel away to Loughinisland in windy conditions on Sunday afternoon. It was the home team who got off to the better start, racking up a goal and 5 points before Lucy Elmore got a point to open the scoring for Cumann Pheadair Naofa. Another 1.2 apiece brought the score to 2.7. to 1.3 at half time, in favour of the hosts. A rampant start to the second half by Loughinisland, saw them extend their lead to 3.12 to 2.4 and after a Katie Poland goal was followed closely by a goal from the hosts, the game looked to be out of reach for Cumann Pheadair Naofa. But this team doesn’t quit and a resurgent last 15 minutes saw the visitors notch up 1 goal and 7 points unanswered to narrowly fall short at the final whistle. A final score of 4.12. to 4.11 tells a tale of this hotly contested encounter. Superb effort girls.
