The inaugural Ann McGeeney Trust Fund Charity Ball, to help raise funds and awareness of the charity, took place on Saturday 17 October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk. The event was formal attire and was hosted by Tim McGarry and entertainment was provided by Abba Tribute Band. Cumann Pheadair Naofa members and guests were well represented at the Gala Ball. Guests were addressed by Ann’s husband Jimmy Murray who welcomed patrons and expressed appreciation to family and friends for the tremendous support for the establishment of the Ann McGeeney Trust. Ann’s daughters Daisy and Holly spoke eloquently about the valuable work which the Trust will undertake while Ann’s sons Ardal and James played a pivotal role in the organisation of the evening’s fundraising activities.

Former Cumann Pheadair Naofa Community and Outreach Officer Ann McGeeney who died on 11 September 2014, and whose strategic and innovative contribution to Cumann Pheadair Naofa outreach programmes was exceptional, is remembered by her family, friends and work associates by the establishment of The Ann McGeeney Charitable Trust in recognition of her life and work.

The focus of the Ann McGeeney Trust is keeping with her principles and life and will provide support for locally based peace building across and within communities, women’s groups and minority groups both indigenous and those newly arrived to Ireland.
