Cumann Pheadaír Naofa 1-4
Killeavy 1-13
Although the blues only scored five times over the hour, this was not reflective of the effort Warrenpoint had put in over the 60 mins of this league game under lights at Páirc Esler on Tuesday night. Having suffered a fourteen-point defeat in Moygannon mid-July, Cumann Pheadaír Naofa had manged to improve on the performance over the intervening ten-week period. Tom Daly, Sean Mallon, Marty Houlihan & Liam Boyle, although disappointed on the defeat, were positive on how the team had moved forward in such short time. Warrenpoint were guilty of wasting scoreable chances from scoring positions and ultimately paid the price. Several times over the course of the sixty minutes the blues had opportunities that could have seen a different score line, but under pressure from an experienced Shamrocks team the blues options were often fluffed or rushed resulting in wides of shots dropping short.
Now that the blues have tried extremely hard in training to iron out their mistakes, they will strive to learn through this league campaign and build towards what will hopefully be a successful championship in less than three weeks’ time.
