Cumann Pheadair Naofa Footballers were welcomed by Kilcoo to Eoghan Rua Park on Thursday past, a match that saw the Point men seeking to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Glenn last week.
Both teams were eager to pick up the points having dropped points in the recent past that both felt they could have walked away with. Both teams were missing keys players with Downs fixture in the All Ireland Qualifiers but both fielded a strong team fully intent on taking away 2 points.

The Kilcoo men were first off the mark with a score on 2minutes following the throw in, they then added to their score within another 2 minutes but the Point men found their feet following the restart when Coalan McLoughlin plucked the ball out of the air from the kickout and Niall McGovern converted the point mens first score of the game.

The point men continued to come back into the game with scores from Ross McGarry and on 21 minutes the Ball hit the back of the Kilcoo net when Ruairi Cowan blasted the ball from 10 yards out to bring the point men back into play with 9 minutes remaining in the first half. Kilcoo now led by 3 points.

Johnny Murcan tried to narrow the gap immediately following the Kilcoo Kickout but the ball just glided wide, Ross McGarry converted a free to leave two in it but the Kilcoo men put two over to leave it 4 points in their favour at the half Time whistle.

The restart saw Kilcoo begin to dominate the midfield tussles and they converted with efficiency that saw them lead by 7 points but the Warrenpoint men never gave up and points from Aaron Darcy, Niall McGovern and Ross McGarry saw the point men behind by just two but the 4 times Down Champions managed to dig deep into their experience and hold off to win by 4 points.

The Warrenpoint men now take on Bryansford on Friday 1st July at 7:30pm in Pairc liam Ui Ir. Every game remaining this season is an important match for the Blues so come out and support your team!
