The senior men will take a lot from Easter Saturday’s match against the then unbeaten Mayobridge. Going into the match the ‘Point sude would have fancied themselves having won the last three home fixtures against the sky blues. The blues broke away in the first half with some excellent attacking football and using the first half wind to their advantage. In the first 15 the point men had built up a six point lead which saw the scoreboard read 1-4 to 0-1, a superb goal coming from half-back Ruairi McCormack. However the sky blues showed why they were unbeaten and fought back to leave it 1.06 to 0.05 at halftime.
The first score of the half came from the bridge men and and they closely levelled things with a quick goal. it took the blues almost 20 minutes so register a score on the board and the bridge men were making the most of their chances before being reduced to 14 men when Kevin McClorey was shown a second yellow.
The blues were not giving up and Ross McGarry, who looked like a goal was brewing all afternoon did indeed find the net with 3 minutes to go. However the sky blues held on and ran out eventually winners on a score line of 2.08 to 1.12.
