In what can only be described as a nail biting game of football and one to keep the neutral supporter to the end, the blues eventually came out on top in a tough hitting game against Ballyholland in round four of the All County Football League Division 1. The win sees the seniors with three wins out of four and a very positive start from four tough matches.

The game started off slowly with Cumann Pheadair Naofa opening the scoring with Ross McGarry hitting an excellent free. The game continued with numerous frees and the half time score read Warrenpoint 0.05 Ballyholland 0.04, with four of our five scores coming from Ross McGarry, three of which were well placed frees.

Donagh McAleenan playing a more open role alongside Miceal O’Hare was being well watched by the harps men but this didn’t put Donagh off and he played some excellent ball into the forward line. The second half saw McGarry again open the scoring from play and it looked like McAleenan’s men came out to rectify the defeat in the harps home field last weekend but following four unanswered points from the Harps side, they soon went two ahead. However despite some very controversial refereeing decisions and a harsh penalty, the Harps men failed to convert and the score of the match came from Joe Magee who powerfully blasted the ball over the bar followed by an unbelievable solo run from Cormac McCartan saw the blues go 0.09 all.

The crowd were loudly behind the blues in the last dying minutes and the never say die attitude saw the blues deep and a superbly pointed Ryan Magee Score saw the blues go one ahead and Ross sealed the deal in the dying minutes to leave the final score Warrenpoint 0.11 Ballyholland 0.09.

Next up is a tough local derby at home against close neighbours Rostrevor who are on a winning streak and making great strides in Division one.
