On Saturday night all roads led to Galbally Co.Tyrone for the 2019 Ulster Final. Warrenpoint saturated the programme with none less than three group participating across Ceili, instrumental and set dancing and Down were represented in four section, the three named and recitation.
Our Ceili dancers gave one of the best performances of the night and the crowd showed their excitement by lifting the roof in Tyrone showing everyone the ‘Point mean business! Next up was the instrumental group who had the crowd tapping and clapping along during their lively yet musically perfect tunes. Last on stage was our mixed set team & both Oisin and Eamonn took to the stage for the third and final time of the night. The set team danced a lively and energetic Cavan Reel which once again saw the crowd fully engaged and lifting the atmosphere in the hall.
Unfortunately, despite three unbelievable performances in very tough competitions, when the results were announced the adjudicators decided that Down was not to be represented in the All Ireland in Castlebar and the ‘Point crowd left for home disappointed but very very proud of all their efforts. To have four County titles coming from one club is testament to the talent of our young competitors who we have no doubt will be back bigger and better than ever!
We as a club age extremely proud and thankful for all they have done for the club and the revival of Scór in Warrenpoint and Down said Cultural Officer Carmel McGrath, she also paid tribute to all the loyal supporters who made the journey to support the competitors.
