Thursday saw the end of the Cumann Pheadair Naofa club/school coaching in St Dallans Primary School where a range of GAA coaching was offered to the pupils of St Dallans PS including hurling, camogie, girls and boys football. With the football having ended already the last event was a hurling blitz involving every P4 pupil from St Dallans and Carrick Primary Schools. The blitz saw over 130 boys and girls participate in a series of mini games when club coaches were joined by teachers form both schools as well as Ulster GAA coach Ryan Gaffney and Down GAA coach Danny Toner. The coaching programme was supported by Sport Northern Ireland’s Everybody Active 2020 Small Grants Programme and saw Cumann Pheadair Naofa invest over £3,000 into the club school link.
Following this it is hoped that pupils will continue to play all activities with Cumann Pheadair Naofa with hurling training every Friday night at 6pm in Miltown and Football every Wednesday 7pm in St Marks.
