Recently Uachtarán CLG Aogán Ó Fearghail announced the return of Lá na gClubanna to the GAA Calendar in 2016. This special day dedicated to GAA clubs and club activities will take place on Sunday May 8. On the day Clubs will take centre stage to celebrate their existence and impact in their community and reconnect with their locality. Chairperson of the La na gclubanna Aislíng McGivern has released the programme of events for the day:
- 11am: Mass for deceased members in St Peter’s Church
- 12noon: refreshments in club after mass
- 1pm – 3pm: U6-U14 games day in Pairc Liam Uí Ir and Fifa competition for U16 & Minor players in 125 Pavillion
- 330pm – 5pm: Cultural Concert and Family Picnic in the Park
- 5pm: BBQ & Craic agus Ceol in St Peter’s Clubrooms followed by All Ireland Ticket Draw and launch of Club video
Uachtarán Aogán Ó Fearghail said: “Where we are at our best in the GAA – is in the Clubs.” Newly appointed Chair of the committee Aislíng highlighted that she and the committee were working will all sections of the club to celebrate success and highlight the vast range of activities on offer on Sunday 8 May. Aislíng said that this would be a day for giving back, for celebrating and one of community spirit.
