The annual charity fundraiser match between the over & under 30s was once more a great success. Even though the weather conditions were terrible it was great to see the turnout in support of PIPS and Hurling development in the town. With Clonduff unable to defend the title they won last year, due to the game clashing with their dinner dance it was down to the youth and exuberance of the under 30s to turn over the experience and weight difference of the over 30s side.
The first half was a tight encounter with only a point between the sides as the older and heavier side edged a 3-0 to 1-5 half time advantage. Playing with a slight wind advantage in the second half the fitness and pace of the younger team started to tell as they pulled away to win 3-12 to 3-2.
We would like to thank all those who turned out to play and support the event, to Liatroim’s Barry McCartan for officiating and to Aileen McAteer for once more organising such a successful event. After the game the club rooms were once more packed as the teams retired for the evening to enjoy the rest of the proceedings and a raffle to finish off the evening.
