Hurlers young and old thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from the visit to Warrenpoint of Martin Fogarty, National Hurling Development Manager on Friday night. Martin himself a former Hurler with Kilkenny was also part of Brian Cody’s coaching staff for eight of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland winning teams and has gained wealth of knowledge, experience and success along the way. Martin’s enthusiasm for our national game was evidently clear to see for everyone on Friday evening.
As part of his visit Martin spent time with our coaches and players from U6 to senior, as well as sharing many anecdotes and stories along the way of his times with Kilkenny, coaching various teams and well-known players of the game, he passed on some excellent advice and tips to the many Hurling coaches that showed up throughout the day. His jovial and relaxed approach proved to be very infectious with a big turnout eager to learn the secrets of successful coaching.
Everyone who turned out on this beautiful evening were full of praise for of Martin and his eagerness to see everyone enjoy and improve their hurling and coaching skills, as a thank you for coming to Cumann Pheadaír Naofa, club secretary Ann McCormick along with Hurling Chairman Damien McConville made a small presentation to Martin.
