Michael Cusack’s 1-14
Bredagh 4-28
A very strong Bredagh side, littered with county minors came to Páirc Esler on Wednesday night. Cusack’s were playing in their first county Minor Championship and if they won could have found themselves in the semi-final of the Cup competition, but will now as a result of the defeat be playing in the shield Final against Ballygalget. Bredagh’s forward unit were unstoppable, Ronan Costelloe, Ciarán McMullan (twice) and Enda Gargin all grabbed first half goals whilst Sean Hughes, Joe Hanrahan and Joe Blaney all put in great performances to underline their strength and calibre as strong favourites to win the Cup competition for Bredagh. Michael Cusack’s refused to give up and whenever they played in the early ball to Conal Sheehan, Eoin Rooney, James Duggan and Tiernan Murphy they were getting some valuable points for the home side in response. By this stage Bredagh had built up a massive lead and left Cusack’s too big of a gap to pull it back.
The second half was a much keener contested affair, Michael Cusack’s had brilliant performances form Sean & Billy Campbell, Aodhán Furlong, Eoin Maguire, Tiernan Murphy and Conan Kelly. Although comfortably beaten in the end, Michael Cusack’s can look forward to a Shield Final in a few weeks’ time against Ballygalget and having already beaten the ‘Ards men in the round robin section, they’ll have plenty of confidence in their ability to beat them once more and end the season with some silverware.
