Friday saw the first session of Cumann Pheadair Naofa’s primary school coaching programme for 2017 in St Dallan’s PS. The coming months will see club coaches deliver our exciting programme of activities in both St Dallan’s PS and Carrick PS.  Commencing with a 7 week programme of coaching in both schools for P6 and P7, there are plans to increase the breadth of activities to include P4 and P5 coaching. The programme will then cumulate in a match between St Dallan’s and Carrick PS.

The aim of the primary school coaching programme is to open up the accessibility of hurling to every child who wishes to play hurling in the Warrenpoint area. Hurling Chairman, Damien McConville commented “there is endless potential to build upon existing strong school club links between Carrick PS, St Dallan’s PS and Warrenpoint, and to develop a strong and vibrant hurling scene in the Warrenpoint / Burren area.”

With the Cumann na Bunscoil and Feile matches also on the cards over the coming months it is promising to be a busy period for all involved.

Special thanks to Chris Rooney, Eugene McConville and Conor Keenan for leading the primary school coaching.
