On Saturday 7th May the young U8 hurlers travelled to a very cold and wet Downpatrick for their 3rd blitz of the year. The young blues were up against some strong teams from Portaferry, Ballycran, Kilclief and Clonduff. They played extremely well, with Finn pulling off some good saves with the help of defenders Eoin, Ciaran and James, who in turn helped move the sliotar to midfielders Tiernan and Jason. Up front Jamie and Christy played well and although unfortunate to secure a win, the boys worked together very well and made their opponents jobs very hard.
CPN were: Eoin Campbell, Finn Digney, Jason Duffy, Christy Elmore, Jamie Lock, Ciaran McMahon, James Nelson and Tiernan O’Reilly
The U10 hurlers were also at Downpatrick and had an extremely good days hurling and although unlucky against Portaferry A and Liatroim, who proved to be very strong. The boys were more fortunate against Portaferry B, Ballycran and Kilclief winning two of the matches and drawing the third.
Overall lads continue to improve with every blitz and training session and the coaches were delighted with the performances of their respective teams on Saturday. Training continues Friday 6-7 in Milltown and all new members are welcome. Coaches Averil and Colette are hopeful that the club coaching for P3’s currently taking place in St Dallans will lead increased numbers into hurling in Cumann Pheadaír Naofa.
