In an emotional interview after the event, club hurler and Captain of the St Peters/Ulster team Chris Rooney said, “it was an absolute privilege to lead the Ulster/St. Peter’s select team onto the pitch on Saturday.” When speaking about the whole event Chris was keen to note that the weekend was a truly historic one for our club as Rackard Cody took the Kilkenny Legends to Pairc Elser to play in an unforgettable exhibition hurling match.
The evening in the club and the training session with the underage sections on Sunday morning was also a real delight to experience and will have far reaching consequences for the future young hurlers in St. Peter’s. Chris said, “it was an honour to take part in an event that not only gave a lot to charity but also did so much to rekindle the love and passion of hurling in the Provence. I and many others will never forget this experience and will forever be grateful to Rackard Cody and the Kilkenny Legends that chose our club to showcase the greatest team to ever play the game.”
