Club Vice Chairman Gerry Gray attended the Croke Park Pitch Renovation Open Day which took place in Croke Park on Sunday 23 April. The informative event was a unique opportunity to see GAA pitch renovation at Headquarters and to hear sports turf industry professionals speak on matters relevant to quality pitch maintenance. Topics covered included fertiliser types, application techniques, understanding seed and overseeding techniques, aeration and top dressing. This was also a networking opportunity and a chance to exchange examples of best practice implemented in other clubs.
The Croke Park Pitch Manager, Stuart Wilson, hosted a question and answer session and afforded delegates the opportunity to view the machinery and technology used to maintain the Croke Park pitch. For many years, Gerry Gray continues to keep the club pitch at Moygannon in great shape and thoroughly enjoyed learning from the professionals at Croke Park. Club Chairman Eugene Gallagher thanked Gerry for representing the club at this prestigious and informative Open Day.
