Cumann Pheadair Naofa Reserve Footballers travelled to Burren to play in the quarter final of the Down Premier Reserve Championship with the final score Burren 3-13, CPN 1-08. The Reserves were missing a number of regulars, however the great camaraderie in the town ensured that we fielded a team of some local GAA legends, with some youth to complement this. The seasiders stood toe to toe with Burren for the first 10 minutes however as time progressed the green and white started to dominate leading 3-9 to 0-3 at half time.
The second half was a complete contrast to the first; the ‘Point scored 1-1 in the first five minutes and put the Burren players under immense pressure throughout the second half. Every single player in the second half could not be faulted for their focus, drive and determination, playing cohesively as a team.
The Reserve football team management, led by Shane McClorey and Eddie O’Hare, expressed their appreciation to the forty players who stripped out for the Reserves this season, and to the senior management for their great support, direction and friendship throughout.
