Warrenpoint 3:12 Bredagh 1:10
Three excellent points from substitute Cathal Fegan claimed the win for Warrenpoint in a tough Monday night tussle with Bredagh at Cherryvale. Ace marksman John O Kane added further late points to ensure there was no way back for Bredagh. Goals from Tomas McGill, Niall McParland and John O Kane had the Blues ahead by one point at the half time whistle, 3:01 to 1:06.
The Warrenpoint defence and midfield were on top with Tom Daly, Jason Gray, Mark Rafferty and Matthew Teague to the fore. Despite having the majority of possession, the forward unit scored only one point with many wasted opportunities. Many efforts were either poorly executed or ball lost in possession when scores were there for the taking.
To the delight of management, the second period would see a major improvement with Warrenpoint outscoring Bredagh by 10 points to 4. This included some excellent scores from the likes of John O Kane, Cathal Fegan, Matthew Teague, Shane Rooney and Mitch Murphy. Warrenpoint sit in third place of the Down league and play Ballyvarley on Monday evening in the last round of the league. Following on the very impressive second half performance, the Blues will want to finish the league with a win.
