Long standing club member and true gael Eugene Gallagher has taken up the position of Chairman of Cumann Pheadair Naofa following the stepping down of Feargal McCormack. Eugene has held many positions in the club and is no stranger to hard work having served as club secretary, representing the club on the County Committee as well as serving as Chairman of the Football Committee. Eugene welcomes this opportunity and in addressing the AGM audience after his election he thanked outgoing Chairman and personal friend Feargal McCormack on the sterling work he has done in getting the club to the position it is in today. He also highlighted the challenges that lie ahead and said he looked forward with pride and enthusiasm to what lies ahead.

In his concluding, detailed and thought provoking address at the Cumann Pheadair Naofa (CPN) AGM on Tuesday 14 October 2014, outgoing Club Chairman Feargal McCormack highlighted the many positive achievements across all playing codes, culture, drama, music, social, community outreach, and health and well-being, over the previous 12 months, but the emphasis in his address was to concentrate on the future.

He outlined the need to empower leaders to evolve at all levels in the club and inspire and motivate more people to volunteer and become active in our club activities, saying ,”it is great fun and very rewarding, but we must spread the workload and avoid burn-out.” In his plans for the future of the club and taking on role of Development Office, Feargal talked about the New 5 Year Club Development Plan in which he noted the importance of putting focus groups in place with clear planning, stating “a goal without plan, is just a wish

He addressed the large crowd in attendance outlining that there is no room for complacency, much work remains to be done. We are not where we want to be, or where the club needs to be. Our present circumstances don’t determine where we can go, they merely determine where we start. We must keep moving forward with positivity. Feargal concluded by asking members to continue to embrace change, consolidate and develop club activities to operate effectively at the heart of the local community for whole of family for whole of life.
