Cumann Pheadair Naofa coaches pride themselves in being as up to date with the latest coaching techniques and courses. When the invitation to attend the new Down County GAA Coaching Development Programme, Football committee secretary Daniel Bird was pro-active in ensuring all teams were represented. The GAA Club Development Programme is a 9 week course delivered by both Down and Ulster GAA staff. This is an invaluable learning opportunity for club coaches who are coaching Gaelic football from U6-U16 level. The workshops are designed to help coaches to plan their season ahead through skill development and principles of play. The first three weeks are aimed at U6/8 level, the next three weeks aimed at U10/12s and the three weeks after Christmas aimed at U14/16 level.
So far 11 coaches have attended the first week in An Riocht and in total 16 coaches across the age group are enrolled in the programme.
