Warrenpoint Reserve footballers continued their Down Premier Reserve Championship campaign against Tullylish on Sunday past. With a great mix of experience and youth, from the very first minute it was very evident that this would be Warrenpoints day. Three first half goals, two coming from Davy Walker and the other from Niall T saw the blues off to a flying start. More scores and great performances from Aaron D’arcy, Aaron Magee and Anton Magill and a clinker from minor star James Magain meant the blues went in at half time with a convincing lead.
Out came Tullylish in the second half and they could have easily got back in the game if it wasn’t for the acrobats of Mickey ‘mo’ Morgan between the sticks, a man of the match performance from the versatile legend. His saves and distribution kept the distance between the two teams. Early second half also saw above par performances from Darren Rice in full back, Conor Austin in mid-field and a fantastic debut from young Tomas Magill.
Deep into the second half on came the oldest of the team Conor McGarry and Ciaran McGivern and it was their class that keep the young team pulling away from Tullylish. The lads no progess to semi final stages of the competition and the management team of Shane McClorey and Ruairi McCartney were very pleased by the determination and will to win displayed by the team.
