Warrenpoint thirds went into their 3rd game of the competition against Kilcoo, having seen both sides of the coin with a win and loss in the 1st two games. Fielding with the bare 15 this was going to be tough from start to finish but the young men of Warrenpoint grew into the game as each quarter passed, no doubt getting to the first short whistle was a chance to regroup and take a well deserved drink and sum fresh air after a first 15 mins of getting accustomed to Kilcoos unselfish running game of trying to get a numerical advantage and punish on every occasion, but as stated we were getting cute ourselves and the hard work of putting in solid tackles down the field gave the blues a foot hold hold in the match.
Bolstered by our leader of past two games, Darren Rice again gave us a foundation at the back and his calmness and composure rubbed off on all around him, today he was backed up by Brendy Rice who unselfishly gave up his Sunday to take the field and support the boys, the 13 U/19s who took the field gave a great account of themselves and have warmed to the challenge of senior football, we now look forward to Burren next week in Pairc Liam Ui Ir.
