A busy weekend was on the cards for cultural officer Carmel McGrath and her section with the opening rounds of the 2020 Scór na nÓg competition taking place.
Friday night saw the opening night and the ballad group of, Caoimhe Sneddon, Grace Mallon, Ciara Carr, Lauran Caldwell and Holly Tinnelly were announced as winners and progress to the final stages. Our instrumental came third and progress to the next round.
On Saturday our recitation, Ruairi, also placed and progressed to the next round and we had two fabulous solo singers Sophie & Emily who competed in a very hard competition. Special mention to our youngest competitor Emily McGrath who bravely took to the stage in the solo singing competition!
Sunday was another successful night for Warrenpoint Scór na nÓg entries on Sunday past with our Ballad Group, represented my Sarah Rooney, Fionna Fitzpatrick, Eanna Carr, Aoife McGrath and Sophie Gaw being placed first and progressing to south down final. Sarah Rooney was placed third in solo singing and our Instrumental awarded second place progressing through to qualifiers next Sunday.
A fantastic weekend for all involved and good luck in the next round.
