The most recent Cumann Pheadair Naofa AGM saw the members and volunteers of the club come together to discuss and review the year gone by. Attendees were greeted by Chairman Larry Byrne, Club Treasurer Donal McCormack and Club Secretary Anne McCormack. In her role as a dedicated and hardworking secretary, Anne, in her report to AGM highlighted the successful year gone by and the opportunities and challenges for Cumann Pheadair Naofa for the year ahead.
On reading the club activities annual reports, club secretary Anne McCormack pair tribute to all in the club for their hard work and dedication, “it is clearly evident that Cumann Pheadair Naofa is a vibrant Club with many volunteers contributing to daily Club life and the community where we live.” This year the club saw the highest ever membership recorded totalling 842 members of which 385 of these are youth members, “the potential for this Club to achieve, deliver and meet new challenges both on and off the field is limitless.”
In her report, Anne marked the two significant events that have marked the past year, the first being the historical purchasing of the Pony Field at Moygannon on 20 December 2018 and the second being the senior footballers playing in the first Down Senior Football Championship Final since 1978 on 13 October 2019. “The common denominator about both these events is, that it took around a 40 year wait for both events to come to fruition and there is a vibrant optimism in Cumann Pheadair Naofa that we are continuing our onward journey with commitment, passion, dedication and vision,” stated Anne in her comprehensive and impressive report of the year gone by. The report rightly paid tribute to the resounding success and support for Our Vision Project – Future Proofing Warrenpoint GAA for Generations to Come.
Anne highlighter the, “special sense of pride in the Cumann Pheadair Naofa Blue and White jersey, young and the not so young were energised and excited about the big day in Pairc Esler.” The hard work and dedication of club volunteers who put their shoulder to the wheel in preparation for the Down Senior Football Championship Final was heartwarming and despite it not being our day, it was indeed one of the highlights of the year and we as a club are extremely proud of our team and management.
