On Sunday morning our U12 footballers, after a 2 week break, resumed their league campaign away to Mayobridge. The first half saw Mayobridge start the stronger team with the young blues failing to get to the pace of the game. As the half wore on, the Warrenpoint boys came more into the game and thanks to an opportunistic finish prior to the break, the Warrenpoint side enjoyed a half-time lead at 1:3 to 3 points.
The 2nd half was nip and tuck all the way through and with 5 minutes remaining Mayobridge had squared the game (2 :06 to 2:06) with a counter attacking goal.
To the credit of the Warrenpoint lads, they refused to lie down, and from then to the final whistle they hit an unanswered 2:02. Final score Mayobridge 2:06 Warrenpoint 4:08
The determination and desire shown by the boys particularly in the latter stages of the game was very pleasing and the squad will go into the final few league fixtures with some confidence.
