Our under 6s travelled to Pettit park to take part in Rostrevor’s centenary 25 hours of football. There were some great skills on show by all the kids and an enjoyable morning had by all.
Proud U8 Coaches
The U8s travelled to An Riocht on Sunday and to say the coaches walked off proud is an understatement. The show of skill was a joy to watch and it was brilliant to see the improvements in all our players… from high catches to blocks and from little passes to big scores. And as impressive was the fact that in the middle of groups of players, our super blues were still doing proper toe pick-ups and toe taps. The tackling and never giving up on anything also shone through. Basic skill improvements are really starting to show through so a big thanks to the coaches and all the parents practicing at home.
Also, it was great to see the big support out for this super group of kids. Very proud !
U12’s in Tullylish Win
Warrenpoint U12’s got back to winning ways in Milltown on Sunday morning with a big victory against Tullylish.
The young blues started the game exceptionally well with some well taken scores seeing the Warrenpoint boys race into a 5 points lead in the first quarter. The latter stages of the first half saw Tullylish come more into the game and register some points of their own. However the Warrenpoint attack was continuing to create chances at the other end with some incisive and accurate passing. Half time score Warrenpoint 1:07 Tullylish 0:03
The 2nd half saw Warrenpoint continue to play with great determination and skill. With great team work and supporting runs for team mates the young blues continued to work the score board in the 2nd half. With a defence at the other end giving away very little this was a very impressive performance from the Warrenpoint lads.

U16 Boys Back In Winning Ways
After a 6 week break, the U16 boys got off to winning ways by beating a very determined combined team of Annaclone and Drumgath.
It was another slow start from the blues and straight away they had put themselves under pressure by letting the opposition boss the first ten minutes of the first half. Some excellent defending from Captain Ben Lynch and great long runs from Caolan Freer pulled the Point into the game and it wasn’t long till they were in their stride. A goal each from David Ruddy and David Breen put a good gap between the 2 teams at halftime with the Point leading by 7 points .
Right from the start of the second half the visitors went straight for the point team’s defence and were running riot in long periods. It was very clear to see the blues had taken the foot of the pedal, and not for the first time this season, we let a beating team back into the game. However some great breakaway play from Freer and Powell maintained the gap and with the pressure still on, young Robert Barnett stepped up with an excellent goal. This at last put an end to the Annaclone/Drumgath challenge.
With the final score of 3-8 to 1-8 the blues had “got out of jail”. Next up is an away game to Bosco and hopefully the young blues will have shaken off the rust by then!
