The concluding match of the first half of the U14 B League season saw the Blues travel to league leaders, Castlewellan. A slightly depleted Warrenpoint team knew that they were in for a tough afternoon and so it proved. Right from the start, the home team asserted their dominance on proceedings with strong running play and free scoring. The Blues did well to get a couple of points in the first half and prevent Castlewellan running away with the match completely.
The rain came down heavily towards the end of the first half and continued unabated for much of the rest of the match, much like the pressure from the home team. Into the second half and with Warrenpoint starting to tire from all the defensive work, Castlewellan continued to score heavily and in the end, ran out comfortable winners.
There is no doubt that the Blues continued battling until the final whistle and can be pleased with themselves for getting a couple of scores against a team that would not be out of place in the section above.
