Patrick Rankins 0-9 V O’Rahillys 1-3
Patrick Rankins opened their championship campaign with a hard fought three point win over O’Rahillys this morning. Played in Castlewellan this was Rankins first game in over two months and with the recent rainfall the conditions ensured that this was going to be a dogged battle throughout.
With Rankins missing the influential James Dugan & Oisin Magone through holidays, it promised to be a tight encounter, but with a strong defence centred around Eoin Cassidy & Aodhán Furlong, Patrick Rankins had a good basis enabling Luke O’Neill, with four points & Sean Morgan (a point) to threathen the O’Rahillys rearguard.
In the end a hard fought three point win was enough to get the Warrenpoint & Shamrocks amalgamation off to a winning start.
