Senior Ladies Face Tough Loughinisland Encounter
On Tuesday 8th May, our Senior Ladies travelled to play a very strong Loughinisland team in Round 5 of the LGFA Junior League. This was the Senior Ladies’ toughest challenge yet with Loughinisland being strong favourites for the Junior League title. With a combination of exams and injuries, the Senior Ladies played the game with 15 players who all tried their very best right up to the final whistle which saw Loughinisland finish 6-23 to Warrenpoint’s 0-04.
This was truly a learning curve for the team to show that they need to produce a strong effort in order to win matches at this level – this is still a very young team, who will no doubt continue to improve. The two stand-out performances of the night came from full back Jenny Quinn and Goalkeeper Kate Kelly. Next up for the Senior Ladies is a home fixture to Teconnaught on Thursday evening (17th May) in Pairc Liam Ur Ir at 7:30pm.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to injured Senior player, Ciara Downey and U16/Senior player, Sara Daly. We hope to see you back playing again with us soon girls!
