The U18 Ladies travelled to Carryduff last night to play in their first ever Championship Quarter Final game. With one of our most consistent players Eanna Austin injured just days before the game, this was going to be a difficult challenge.
We got off to a very poor start in the first 15 minutes and found ourselves 3.02 to no score. Then what happened in the next 15 minutes showed the courage, guts and great attitude that our girls gave. They scored 1.08 with no reply and ended up going in at half time 3.05 to 2.08 – a draw!
In the second half the girls gave it everything and it was end to end but they just could not break the Carryduff defence down, and with the light coming down fast, we were eventually beaten 7.06 to 3.08. Manage Ian Russell said himself and Aisling Toman could not ask for any more effort from a very encouraging bunch of lady footballers.
Remember, this is a very young team and virtually everyone is underage at U18 again next year, so watch this space! Thanks girls for all your effort!
