Thursday night concluded the U/16 Football season with the last group game against An Riocht. Unfortunately the young blues did not make it out of the group stages in a very tough season overshadowed by a few serious injurys namely to Sean O Hare, Joseph Connolly and Jack Elmore, the club as a whole extend our best wishes and hope to see these men make a return to full fitness.
Playing in the South Down A section of the league with the knowledge that we were never able to field a full team the brave lads of the 2017 season battled hard and ended up coming 5th in what proved to be a strong league grouping but credit to the lads for fielding every week and a lot of that comes down to the u/14 manager John Daly who was always at the end of a phone offering his support through his squad and we are indebted to John for this, a true Gael.
At the end of the night the end of season awards were presented under the floodlights at Moygannon by Sean O Hare Football Committee Chairman and we would like to extend our congratulations to:
PLAYER OF YEAR: James Ruddy
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER OF YEAR :Shea Morgan
Two very worthy winners of their awards and two men who showed great commitment through out the year and the management cant thank both lads enough for their contribution through out the season.
A special award was made in recognition of Sean O Hare who attended all season either doing umpire, picking up cones or encouraging the lads during both training and games, a real true leader in every sense of the word.
