Cumann Pheadaír Naofa 1-13 St Pats 5-6
Cumann Pheadaír Naofa u12s have had a very hard year on the field with many of their matches not going their way, but on Thursday evening they entertained a St Pats team who had already beat them three times this year. Thursday game started off in a similar fashion as the visitors raced into a three goal lead with Oran Murney & Rauiri McIntyre replying with three points for the blues. In midfield for Cumann Pheadaír Naofa, Darragh Austin was a revelation, his work rate off the ball and carrying the sloitar helped ease the pressure on Mark Campbell & Connaire McMahon in defence.
Starting the second period the blues outscores St Pats as Oisin Gambold plundered a goal and made the game really exciting for the mums & dads who had turned out to cheer on their heroes. Further points from Murney and Austin left the game going into the last period in the balance.
Warrenpoint’s fortunes were helped immensely by the return of Senan Magone & Jarlath Donnelly. Magone was now combining well with the lynch pins of McIntyre, Austin & Murney. Sean Crawford once more put in a flawless display at centre back as St Pats found they had to work extremely hard to get the sloitar into the blues half of the field.
Warrenpoint pulled level and managed to get their noses in front for the first time with only minutes to go, could this be their first victory over the Banbridge side? As time slowly ran out St Pats struck for two quick goals that ultimately decided the outcome of this game. At the end of the game manger Dermot Donnelly was full of praise for the whole team as performances like these were a long time overdue as everyone on the team played brilliantly
