Cumann Pheadair Naofa hosted an Ulster GAA led course on Monday past in St Marks High School Warrenpoint. The course focused on ‘Kicking for Possession’ and was led by Ulster Gaa’s Roger Keenan. The course was well attended with a large Representation from Warrenpoint itself including new Senior Football Manager Niall McAleenan. Other attendees included representatives from Burren, Rostrevor, Ballyholland, Mayobridge, Newry Shamrocks, Attical to name a few.
Roger Keenan delivered a mix of theory and practical knowledge to the attendees drawing from personal experiences as well as from club and county managers and coaches and their knowledge on the subject and its implementation across all age groups.
Roger Keenan thanked Cumann Pheadair Naofa for their generosity and hospitality in hosting the event with special thanks being given to Paula Howlett for her time given to organising teas and coffees upon arrival.
Special thanks was also given to Cumann Pheadair Naofa’s Tommy Ruane and Paul Mckibben who ensured all attendees knew exactly where they were going upon arrival and to Liam Howlett for organising the event both before Christmas and after due to the unfortunate postponement due to the passing of Ulster GAA and Burren’s Danny Murphy.
Cumann Pheadair Naofa Football Committee Chair Sean O’Hare took the opportunity on the evening to thank all attendees for their attendance to the course and expressed his thanks on behalf of the club to Roger and Ulster GAA for allowing the club to host the event. “It is workshops like this that help coaches of all ages and experience levels to refine their coaching techniques and it builds the foundation for the development of the players of tomorrow. Ulster GAA year on year deliver these workshops through highly skilled coaches like Roger Keenan and we thank Roger for travelling here tonight to give our coaches food for thought moving into the 2017 season.”
