The young hurlers and camogs played an integral part in the Wake the Giant festival on Sunday, having made some giant hurls the boys and girls performed their version of the Haka in an effort to awake the Giant from his deep slumber. For the last few weeks the boys and girls practised their moves and made giant hurls to take into the parade in what was a fantastic well organised community event by the Newry, Mourne and Down District council.
In what proved to be a very popular event the Park was packed to capacity with everyone eager to watch the Giant finally open his eyes, despite the onset of the rain it didn’t dampen the spirits of the young Gaels or those in attendance.
