Cumann Pheadair Naofa hosted an inter club U-10 football tournament on Saturday 23 July 2016 in memory of Peadar Rice is fondly remembered as a highly respected stalwart of the Club over many years, who made a significant contribution to the life of the Club, particularly at under age football..
Glen Emmetts (Drogheda), Ballyholland, Mayobridge and Cumann Pheadair Naofa all took part in the tournament which was held at Pairc Liam Uí Ír with each club taking two teams with them.
This was a very sporting and competitive tournament with excellent displays of Gaelic football. The overall winners were Ballyholland and the specially commissioned crystal trophy bearing Peadar’s picture was presented to the winning team by the Rice family. Darren Rice, youngest son of Peadar and an active member of the club thanked all the teams for attending and congratulated Ballyholland, they were top of the leader board throughout the day with excellent teamwork on display. Darren also thanked the football committee for organising the event in memory of his father and said they looked forward to the tournament every year. Next up is the Emmett McGivern U12 memorial tournament on Saturday 13 August and this tournament is part of the Annual Maiden of Mournes festival programme.
