Cumann Pheadair Naofa Footballers were welcomed by Clonduff to Clonduff Park on Friday, a match that saw the Point men seeking to avenge their narrow defeat in the previous fixture earlier in the League. Both teams were eager to pick up the points as we reach the second half of the League fixtures. The Point men were hoping for a win following an injury laden start to the season.
The Clonduff men were first off the mark with a score within 15 seconds of the throw in, they then added to their score within another minute but the Point men found their feet and Ross McGarry hit three scores two from play and one from a free.
Jamie Grant converted a free on 13 minutes from 35 yards out to put the Point me a point ahead.
Clonduff pipped one back but a point by Donagh McAleenan and a rocketing goal by Ross McGarry saw the point men further the lead and dominance on the game. Clonduff still tried to get back into the game but their shooting let them down with a few shots trailing wide.
With six minutes to go the net was rattled again by Ross McGarry who finished home a brilliant move by the Point men starting from a brilliant Turnover by Ryan Mallon.
Half time say the point men leading 2-8 to 0-6.
The second half saw a revamped Clonduff attack that saw them close the gap slightly on the point men but Ross McGarry, Donagh McAleenan Ruari Cowan and Cormac McCartan managed to pip off enough scores to ensure the Point men pull head to secure the win 2-11 to 0-11. Ross McGarry put in a man of the match performance to see the blues back on winning form.
