The clouds cleared away and the sun shone brightly on what was one of the best days in our GAA calendar to date. We really can say we did Lá na gClubanna with pride, community spirit and with friendship at the heart of our day.
Sunday 8 May marked the reintroduction of La na gClubanna, Cumann Pheadair Naofa commenced the day with a special mass celebrated by club chaplin Canon Kearney. This was a fitting start to the day where we remembered all our Gaels living & working overseas. Following the mass refreshments were served in the clubrooms where there was plenty of craic and reminiscing.
Following mass, the sun shone brightly on Pairc where all our underage teams enjoyed a fun afternoon of games & traditional sports. As part of our healthy club programme the children and adults enjoyed delicious smoothies made by the pointer group and the afternoon in Pairc Liam Ui Ir concluded with races involving all ages groups.
In traditional warrenpoint style family friends and patrons returned to the park for a bandstand concert by Warrenpoint GAA band, dancers & chol. The fun continued for young people with bouncy castles, faces painting and a picnic!
The evening concluded with a BBQ and craic back in the club. The evening also saw the launch of our new club video, filmed and edited by Conrad Madden and Sean O’Hare, there was not a sound to be heard during this thought provoking video. On the evening we also launched our healthy club project phase 2 and a presentation was made to Aimee Kelly who designed the healthy club logo.
Club chairman Eugene Gallagher thanked the senior committee and Lá na gClubanna coordinator Aisling for a wonderful occasion which, at it heart showed cased all that is good about Cumann Pheadair Naofa
