At 4 o’clock on Sunday the seniors entertain Newry Shamrocks in what will be an entertaining south Down battle, with the prize for the winner being two points for the Ulster league and two points in the Down all county league division 1. A new setup to the league this year sees team get more games but any Ulster league fixture between Down teams also doubles up as a Down league fixture also. Both sides will be eager to see their fortunes take a change for the better, having both suffered defeats to high flying Liatroim.
This will be a hard year for the blues, playing some really talented and strong sides most notably the Ards teams who see losing to a non Ards team as unacceptable. This will most definitely be a steep learning curve for the youth in the blues ranks. But this Sunday will once again pit neighbouring clubs against each other for bragging rights and the more important 4 points on offer.
