The Point does Strictly committee officially launched this year event on Friday past in the clubrooms. There were lots of local celebritites and a great crowd present, including Q Radio DJ Kevin McAllister and guests were welcomed into a valentines wonderland! The dancing couples arrived by vintage car, kindly supplied by Unity cars and they walked down the red carpet to a raptureous crowd applause. The couples strutted their stuff on the red carpet and gave the audience a feel of what is to come. MC for the launch night Brendan Rice interviewed the couples, under the Love Letters sponsored by Love Alphabet Warrenpoint, on their experiences to date and who they think the big competition is! There was lots of craic among the couples who are working hard to not only learn their dances but also raise sponsorship for the fundraising event.
Event organizer Aislíng McGivern said there was much anticipation ahead of the big event with lots of local personalities donning their dancing shoes to help the club. She said fundraising was taking a more prominent role in all clubs and that without the help of locals and invididuals it would be virtually impossible to keep our voluntary organization going. Aislíng thanked all those who took time out to attend the launch, who bought tickets, sponsored or helped out in any way and encouraged everyone to buy tickets for the event.
On the night the players took charge of selling tickets for our Strictly Draw in which an All Ireland Football Final Weekend package is up for grabs! Tickets are £1 each or 6 for £5 and are limited so keep an eye out for players selling these.
The big event takes place on Friday 18 March in The Canal Court Hotel Newry and it promises to be a great nights entertainment. The event is a ticket only affair and tickets are selling fast, contact any dancer or committee member to purchase a ticket priced
