Patrick Rankins          5-15

Ballyvarley                 4-0

Ballyvarley got off to a great start when they scored within a minute of the start of the game, but James Duggan smashed the sliotar to the back of the net with the next attack. A point from play straight afterwards saw Rankins take an early lead. Matthew Duffy, Mark Campbell & Niall Furlong settled into the rhythm of the game and were the basis from which the home side were able to break down the strong & far bigger Ballyvarley midfield & half forward line. In the middle Oisín Magone & Tiernan Kelly tigerishly fought for every ball, putting Ballyvarley under extreme pressure.

When a longer ball in from middle field looked as though is was about to go wide, the in rushing Ben Lock deftly flicked the sliotar over the goalkeepers head and into the empty net, Patrick Rankins were now firmly in control by this stage after conceding a soft goal directly from a free minutes beforehand, Kelly, Magone and the unstoppable James Duggan at half forward knocked over some super points. Rankins half forwards Darragh Austin & Alfie McDonald gave the half back line another few head-aches with intelligent ball into the danger zone.

After half time Patrick Rankins further increased their lead with another Duggan goal and when Oisín Magone finished to the net it left Ballyvarley with too much to do if they were to stage a comeback.
